As published on Talenthouse....adidas eyewear are inviting artists, designers and creators around the world to customise a pair of 'original's' sunglasses using the provided template(s). Three winning iconic designs, as judged by the adidas original's design team, will be considered for global production in 2013. 

The eyewear model in this creative challenge already exists in the collection and is called the Santiago. The current Santiago range uses simple eye-catching prints to give the sunglasses a 70’s look and feel. The distinctive keyhole nose bridge can either create a more heritage look but can also be highlighted in a different way to make the frame look more contemporary. The Santiago continues to attract attention from artists all around the world as it possesses a unique shape and design exemplifying its subtle difference. To learn more about the contest, go here.

SAPHANI ACCESSORIES

SAPHANI is an accessories store based in London, started by 2 sisters, Chenai and Samantha. They came up with the idea of making our own earrings initially, because of the lack of unique, conversation starting accessories. Nothing in the high street shops was particularly inspiring or exciting, not to mention big. We love big, loud, noticeable things so we decided to try our hand at making our own stuff. 

The name Saphani was inspired by the bible verse Isaiah 45:3 which reads "I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places..." Saphani is the Hebrew translation of "hidden treasures" so we took our name from there. Our items are unique, undiscovered pieces hence the idea of them being "hidden."

Our desire is to create design and handmake jewellery for those who like to stand out, but we also want to provide an expanding range of accessories sourced independently in the near future.

I get so inspired when i see young people doing great things an these two sisters have inspired me. There's always something you can do; just find a need and strategise on how to meet it. FRIENDS….the spices that add flavour to life.

You know that awkward moment when you get so pissed at a friend and you’re really mad that you can’t even talk to someone about it. This kinda mixed feeling that you really don’t know where to place it cos you’re so hurt, pained but still love her/him. Yeah…I guess you’ve felt same too.

And so I was at this point and no matter how I tried to forget it or laugh it off, I still missed my friend cos all I wanted to do was share how my day went with her but I just couldn’t. I finally opened up to someone…I just poured out my heart and after I was done I was expecting him to be on my side but guess what? He didn't, instead he reminded me that we all have flaws as humans  and that these flaws sometimes get in the way without the person knowing how much they have affected the other. Those words struck a chord inside of me. Here was a friend helping me to sort out an issue caused by another friend and I realised that no matter how pissed/angry/paranoid we may get at friends; they are the spice that helps add flavour to our everyday life. Reminiscing on days spent together, memories of fun, joy and laughter; I thanked God that I had friends to share those moments with and that she was part of it.

Imagine having only pepper in your meal or just salt; it will have an funny taste but in order to get the flavour that will trigger an appetite, you’ll need a mixture of the hot & spicy, the sweet & sour to produce a perfect meal. Some friends are there to help you get stronger and some are there to give you a shoulder to lean on, some are there to push you so hard that you come out of your comfort zone while some will piss you off that the only way to come out of it is to love them twice as much as they’ve pissed you off.

So in our everyday life, learn to live, laugh and love cos being in a world without people to share the awesome experience with will just not be worth it. Appreciate a friend today, tell them how much you love them even when they get you mad or vice-versa. Celebrate them when you can and be a spice that adds flavour to their life.

TO ALL MY FRIENDS…..I LOVE YOU, thanks for adding flavour to my everyday life and plsssssssss I’m sorry if I’ve gotten you angry at any point. I hope I can still be a spice in your pot of soup (loll) as you have been in mine.

   JUBILEE PROJECT   

60 years on the throne this year marks Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, a time of pomp and celebration for Britain and the entire Commonwealth. Royal Visits, military displays and parades, religious services, national street parties, river pageants, palace concerts and the lighting of the beacons are all events that form part of the celebrations. All will be made spectacle by the many Royal and National treasures on display, from the London monuments, to the Royal carriages and river barge, and of course not forgetting the majesty of the crown jewels.

For this months scarf project, therefore, we're looking to you to create designs exploring the theme of the Diamond Jubilee and all that surround it in a truly beautiful and, of course, fashionable way.

3 winners will be selected, each receiving £300 and seeing their design produced and sold online, in Topshop and more.

Today's feature, a Contemporary Fashion Design collection BETTE LIPTON designed by the talented designer Bethany Clarke. She was actually recommended and introduced by another designer - I love the great design community of designers supporting one another.  Bethany is a graduate from the University of Northampton from the UK, and took interest in 2D and 3D design. The majority of her designs features bold and vibrant colors and using weave techniques with materials such as cotton, wool and lamp nappa leather. For her collection, she took inspirational photographs,  turned them to sketches then finally taking them to patterns and exquisite details into the final designs.

She is currently interning for the designer brand "JOVEEBA" based in Sydney, Australia to gain more industry experience and hopes to continue her studies for her master's degree.
