Featured Textile and Surface Designer is Jenni Willson. She currently lives in her hometown Plymouth, UK but travels around the UK and overseas as often as she can for different sources of inspiration. She lived in Bath, UK for her degree and found with Bristol and London just up the road, she had plenty of opportunities to take photos of different surfaces. She recently just got back from Australia and have found it the most inspiring place yet and is currently working on some pieces inspired by amazing peeling posters and colourful old graffiti!
The surfaces of her work are very textured and the inspiration for this mainly comes from deterioration on buildings and graffiti. She takes photos of peeled posters, old cracked walls and then recreates them using acrylic paint, different papers, old books, glue and chalks with indian ink. she likes her work to be quite raw and organic like the images she works from and to have people interact with these pieces.
She enjoys getting out and about with her camera and going to any art/textile exhibitions and local events like vintage fairs and craft events.
Check out her visually inspiring blog, jenniwillsontextiles.blogspot.com. I love how she takes her inspirations she beautifully takes pictures of and extends her great eye and talent thru her own work. She is also available for freelance work and is listed on FV's directory if you wish to contact her.
